WELCOME GIRL SCOUTS !!!!!

For the past 8 years, Stonehaven Farms has been the home of the Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley Council's "Horsin' Around" Summer Day Camps.  For 6 weeks each summer girls from the Toledo area have learned how to properly lead, groom, tack, mount and ride our horses and ponies.  Hands-on instruction and discussion also includes basic parts of the horse and tack, information about different breeds, feeding, health care, shoeing and equestrian careers ... all required for earning the Horse Fan & Rider badges, Sports Sampler Junior badges and the Brownie Try-It badges.  With the help of our highly skilled trainers and counselors, even the most timid rider has been successful in bonding with our equine friends.

We look forward to hosting our scouting friends in 2007.  Follow the link below to the Maumee Valley Girl Scout Council website to learn more about their summer camp program.

TROOP OUTINGS

Attention Troop Leaders

Stonehaven Farms is now offering an opportunity for your girls to work on their Horse Fan, Horse Rider or Sports Sampler Junior Badges, the Horse Sense or Sports for Life Interest Project Patches or Brownie Try-It Badges.

Stonehaven Farms is offering Girl Scout Troop outings where each scout will work with a Stonehaven trainer and counselors to learn how to properly lead, groom, tack, and mount a horse.  They will then have the opportunity to steer at the walk and ride at the posting trot if desired.  Instruction will also include lecture and discussion on basic parts of the horse and tack, information about different breeds, feeding, health care, shoeing, and equestrian careers.  Riding and instruction will be tailored to the age level of each scout troop. Troop outings range from 2-3 hours in length depending upon the number of girls participating and are scheduled at mutually convenient times.  The cost is $40 per girl.  Stonehaven Farms is located at 351 W. Samaria Rd. in Monroe County, MI just minutes north of the Ohio/Michigan border and south of Monroe, MI.
