Girl Scout Troop Opportunities

For the past 10 years, Stonehaven Farms has been the home of the Girl Scouts "Horsin' Around" Summer Day Camps and individual Girl Scout Troop Outings.
Each summer, girls from the Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio area have learned how to properly lead, groom, tack, mount and ride our horses and ponies. Hands-on instruction and discussion also includes basic parts of the horse and tack, information about different breeds, feeding, health care, shoeing and equestrian careers ... all required for earning the Horse Fan & Rider badges, Sports Sampler Junior badges and the Brownie Try-It badges. Riding and instruction will be tailored to the age level of each scout and/or scout troop. With the help of our highly skilled trainers and counselors, even the most timid rider has been successful in bonding with our equine friends.
We have also hosted many troops who have chosen to use their "cookie" money and attend a Troop Outing. We are able to accomodate Troop Outings any time during the year during the week after school or on weekends.
We look forward to working with your scouts to form a program just right for you.

Attention Scout Leaders
Stonehaven Farms partnership with the Girl Scouts offer an opportunity for your scouts to work on their Horse Fan, Horse Rider or Sports Sampler Junior Badges, the Horse Sense or Sports for Life Interest Project Patches or Brownie Try-It Badges. All age groups are welcome.
We will be hosting at least 9 weeks of Summer Riding Day Camps from June through August in 2009. 3 day camps will cost $135 and 4 day camps will cost $175 with 10% of camp sales returned to the scouts.
Individual Troop Outings range from 2-3 hours in length depending upon the number of girls participating and are scheduled at mutually convenient times all year long. The cost is $40 per scout.
